FIFA President Gianni Infantino was in Yaounde for the opening day of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021, extending his best wishes to the 24 nations competing and engaging in interesting discussions with a diverse group of delegates about football’s evolution and importance in society. In Group A, Mr. Infantino witnessed the host nation come from behind to defeat Burkina Faso 2-1 before Cape Verde defeated Ethiopia 1-0. President Infantino had the opportunity to speak with the President of Cameroon, His Excellency M. Paul Biya, the President of Comoros, HE M.Azali Assoumani, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, and General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba, as well as representatives from Member Associations, football legends, government officials, and leading administrators, about various topics related to the impact of football development.
